Welcome to Hill View Primary PTFA.

What is a Parent Teacher & Friends Association?

Most schools have a Parent Teacher & Friends Association (PTFA), which is an organisation of parents, staff and associated people such as grandparents etc. Its role is to encourage closer links between home and school. PTFA's are best known for their fundraising work, but they have a useful social function too. Fundraising events provide an opportunity for parents, staff and pupils to get together.

How is the PTFA organised?

The Hill View Primary PTFA is made up of a chair, vice-chair, a treasurer, a secretary and ordinary committee members. These ordinary members ideally should include at least one, and often two, parents from each class as 'class reps'. Their job is to pass on information from the PTFA to other parents in their child’s class. PTFA committees usually meet once a term and set up smaller working groups to organise individual events.

How is money raised?

Most PTFA's raise money through events. Hill View Primary PTFA events vary but the main ones each year are; the Halloween and friendship discos, Christmas raffle or fair, Christmas cards, an Easter Bingo and a Summer event. PTFA’s are always looking for new fundraising ideas and we encourage anyone to submit them. Donations can also be made without any link to events.

How is money spent?

Funds raised by the PTFA are intended to provide ‘extras’ not already provided by the school's main income – often 'fun things' that make learning more interesting and exciting. The PTFA committee decide how to spend PTFA funds following requests from the school. Common items include, playground & school equipment, books and trip subsidies.

How can I be involved in my PTFA?

There are many different ways you can help with the PTFA, whether you have lots of time to offer or not. Some of the roles are time-consuming, although also rewarding. You can become a full PTFA member, or a virtual member where you are unable to attend meetings but interested in taking part and sharing ideas via email. If you can’t commit to a big job, look out for things you can do less frequently (e.g helping during school discos, baking cakes for cake sales or helping with raffle prizes).

And you can always support PTFA events by simply turning up.

Our PTFA Goal

Our primary goal is to promote a sense of support, community and togetherness amongst our children, teachers, staff, parents, and local community to further enhance a caring and nurturing environment for our children and their learning. We strive to encourage positive relationships and experiences that increase our children's education through organising fun and family events throughout the year and actively fundraise for items not included in school budgets.

We are fortunate at our school to have a PTFA that is an integral part of the school community and continues to grow stronger each year.  Over the years the PTFA has raised thousands of pounds, which has been spent on equipment and resources to emphasise our children’s education and experience at Hill View primary.
